Well I can't reread this at all so I'm sorry if this ends up all over the place. I have been using a combination of a few screne readers in the last few days trying to fix this problem, nad haven't found a solution yet. First of all. There is this where I hit back space and only hear space, but that's normal with jaws, but when I do it with window eyes it just makes this double beep at me so I'm not sure if i am getting rid of the charicters. Next with jaws trying to go to history in windows live messenger it jumps out of the message window all together and puts me back in my contact list. Then when I root jaws to pc I can't read anything it continuelessly says blank. With window eyes I am un able to read web pages or emails properly and not at all reading emails with jaws.

have so far tried the following
I've been using nvda to supliment what I'm not able to do.
I've tried to update my vidio drivers from both the windows site and looked on dell's website I could not find any intelli drivers at all for the vostro 1400.
I've tried uninstalling both screne readers and reinstalling them. I've tried to reinstall the vidio intercept for jfw, and none of these have fixxed my problem. If you have any ideas or think you can walk me through a reformat if nothing else please please contact me.

Have you tried all the normal things like anti-virus anti-spyware scan? I know it sounds unlikely, but some spyware do strange things to displays and put strange things in the background. Also have you installed google toolbar or google desctop? On some systems it's known to do that sort of thing. Even if you didn't install it yourself, it might have come with some other aplications you might have installed and you didn't pay attention to uncheck it. Have you messed about/changed the display settings? Do you have anyone sighted around to see if anything unusual/different is happening on the screen and in the background?

vanja no i have no google tool bar. I will try again to run the anti spam... for some reason both norton and nod32 made my computer lag itself to death and not scan prop um now i'm back to window eyes because jaws demo ran out. um where was I? can't read in browse mode off. lol. Ya if you can reccomend a good web virus scannor?erly so I know there is something wrong. Neither program works well

Hmm not sure..norton is definitely system hog, but nod32 is totally opposite. I assume you uninstalled norton before you installed nod32? If not that could be a big part of your problem. Two anti-virus software often can cause problems. I'm not sure about online scans, but I know that nod32 is very very good and definitely isn't a system hog like norton and most others.

I know that on my laptop I can press insert semicolen or insert pc button and it will for most part turn forms moad off so I can read what I wrote. I also put my jaws on word. Um like wear it reads words instead of carictor. If the pc thing doesn't work then tab or shift tab to nearest combo box and press enter it should turn it off as well. Also you can select things. Just select and then press left or right arrow when you get to the word you wanted and you should be beside that word. My jaws does the same thing but I am use to it and found ways arround it. I don't like how it will recet everything when it goes off.

Vanja I did uninstall norton first and cleaned the registry. It seems to me that what ever this thing i have want sto prevent me from running the scanner. What would happen is i would restart after installing either of the programs and the computer would not want to start for like ten minutes comepletely. Jaws would not ocme up for a while and when it was there it would be very laggy. It would take like I said about 10 minutes forall my programs to load, and even gettig an instant message would freeze the computer for around 30 seconds. When I would scan with either program once I could get it to start it would stop around 30 percent with an error, or freeze up the computer completely. I don't know what else to do but try to run an online scannor. thanks for help. :D

hmmmm, sounds like a virus or something, their is an online scanner i've heard of, but i'm not sure on waht is called now. If you want a few different virus scanners, give Avira a shot, and use the active guard. That thing is awesome at picking up things.

it does sound like you're dealing with some piece of spyware or maybe a rogue antivirus software. A couple other programs you could try:
Super Anti Spyware: http://superantispyware.com. The nice thing about this one is it doesn't run in the background. it's only active when you do a scan, so in theory, it shouldn't make your system lag.

VIPRE antivirus by sunbelt software: http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com.

If neither of those do the trick, you could try doing a system restore. When did this problem start? Maybe try doing a restore to a time before it all began. A lot of viruses will insinuate themselves into system restore, so this may not work but at this point, it may be worth a shot.

thank you both. I had tried the online scannor before with no luck. You might be right about the rog programs, but that would be two, and people must really havuing fun at others expence in that case. In any case. I've got avg on here for now, and it's not at it's best, but it's becoming usable. Now I'm just trying to learn window eyes rather than jaws. It's seeming more stable to me. I will check these online scannors. As for the restore thing. That is one of the first things i tried, but for some reason my computer only had one restore point. It seems to some how have set up where it only makes one restorre point and that right before the last program installed. Not very helpful is it?

Hmmm, this just doesn't happen on a mac! Woof runs under the table and curls up in to a tight ball before the onslaught of attacks begin...
